Bosch has revolutionized Diesel drive technology, in particular the common rail injection system. The direct injection process ensures that exactly the right amount of fuel is injected at the right pressure for every expansion stroke. The result is optimal engine performance at minimum consumption and low emissions.
The common rail system stores the fuel ready for injection
for all cylinders in a shared fuel store (rail) under high pressure of up to 2,200 bar. Electronically controlled high-pressure magnetic valves control the injection time and injection duration for every cylinder.
The powerful performance of the common rail Diesel engine is not only required in cars. Especially for large drive assemblies there is no alternative to Diesel in terms of fuel consumption, efficiency and emissions. And large Diesel units require extremely high performance from the injection technology – and Bosch engineers. Long-term high- precision injection
is only ensured if the high-pressure pump, injectors and electronic control unit are adjusted to each other perfectly.
More economical on every route
With Diesel systems from Bosch, commercial vehicles achieve their maximum range. To do so, the energy from
the fuel must be converted into motion energy with as little efficiency loss as possible. This is achieved by adjusting
the injection process precisely to the respective engine and operating status.
Cleaner transportation
Bosch develops common rail injectors with pressure transmitters that only compress the fuel to the maximum pressure level in the injector. In gravity motors, the pressure transmitter can be controlled separately from the injection module. The result: the pressure process can be varied more flexibly and less noxious substances are generated. Bosch Diesel technology observes present and even future emission threshold values for Diesel engines. For example, rail-track construction vehicles with large Diesel motors from Bosch
can also be used in tunnel building sites.
Permanent operation under extreme conditions
On oil rigs, high pressure injection systems from Bosch
are used to drive the electricity generators. Diesel units are available within seconds with their full performance. The injection pumps and jets are developed specifically for each engine unit. This is high-precision manufacturing at its best: the manufacturing tolerances are in the thousandth of a millimeter range. Especially on oil rigs, the requirements in terms of durability and reliability are extremely high. As in all Diesel systems, we make sure to keep the number of parts subject to high wear and tear as low as possible.
With common rail, our engineers think in large dimensions, too. Injection systems from Bosch are among the best available worldwide.
